Echoes

I send out echoes and listen to the reverberating sounds in stringy stretches
They form new sounds to heal my broken soul
And when I see the wastelands of past and present truth
Your eyes are all that speak

Symphonies now, imperceptible perceptions, and love
Signs.
How are we not awake for this dream?

A Country Song for Bobby Long

Kentucky girls
And Texas boys
Starry nights
A fire crackling noise
I see a shooting star
And say, "Hey that's you!"
And take another sip
Of Tennessee Whiskey and brew

And realize...

We ain't lost yet,
Oh heavens no
And we'll weather the storm
No matter how far we go
And there's no power yet
In this life or the next
That says we can't be together
Or perform our best...
Love song for two

Four by four
We beat a new track
And ain't it funny
When there's no going back
Now I heard pray tell
Of a whisper in the West
About some rebel yelling
"Don't tread on this,"

And realized...

We ain't lost yet,
Oh heavens no
And we'll weather the storm
No matter how far we go
And there's no power yet
In this life or the next
That says we can't be together
Or perform our best...
Love song for two

You lay awake
I lay by your side
Wondering how lucky
I am to be on this ride
In troubled times
They say to hold on tight
But in those troubled waters
I feel just right

Realizing...

We ain't lost yet,
Oh heavens no
And we'll weather the storm
No matter how far we go
And there's no power yet
In this life or the next
That says we can't be together
Or perform our best...
Love song for two
